As part of doing research on fun things to do in Los Angeles, I went to an LA Lakers game Sunday. I know, it’s a rough job, but someone’s gotta do it. My cousin has ridiculously good season tickets to the Lakers and sometimes has an extra ticket. Sunday was one of those lucky days.
The Los Angeles Lakers played the Dallas Mavericks at Staples Center and won a nail biter in overtime 112-108. It was a great game; the Mavericks were up nearly the entire game, but a late charge got the Lakers back into it and they eventually pulled it out in over time.
Even if the game hadn’t been overly exciting, it would have surely been a great day. A Lakers game is truly an event. You can always spot a few celebrities. During Sunday’s game I saw Dallas Maverick’s owner, Mark Cuban, and retired NFL linebacker, Willie McGinest. Staples Center, located downtown in LA Live, is a nice stadium that is cool to browse around.
Downtown has really become a great place to be. Bravo TV’s Top Chef Contestant Dakota Weiss agrees and now calls Downtown LA her home. LA Live has tons of great places to eat and drink; Katsuya, Lawry’s Carvery, and the ESPN Zone just to name a few. If you’ve never been, downtown has become a must see place so don’t miss out if you’re visiting L.A.
