Best Neighborhood To Live in Los Angeles

Los Angeles Metropolitan Area Real EstateLos Angeles is comprised of over 150 individual neighborhoods and residential pockets. When people (especially out-of-state folks) say “Los Angeles” they are often referring to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area which is drastically bigger than the city itself.

Los Angeles Metropolitan Area is divided into the following main geographic areas: Eastside, San Gabriel Valley, Pomona Valley, Westside, Beach Cities, South Bay, Palos Verdes Peninsula, South Los Angeles, Gateway Cities, Orange County, San Fernando Valley, and of course Downtown Los Angeles and Mid-Wilshire.

Long Beach, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Glendale, Burbank, and Irvine are also sometimes mistakenly referred to as “Los Angeles” but in actuality are individually incorporated cities. The entire region is well over 4,000 square miles and home to 15+ million people.

When clients who are new to the area ask us, “Where is the best place to live in L.A.?” we politely remind them that the answer is different for everyone.

Consider the following when deciding the best area of L.A. for you to live:

  • Where do you work? How far are you willing to commute each day to and from?
  • Would you rather live in a house or condo?
  • How often would you like to visit the beach? Go shopping?
  • Do you fly often? Is being close to an international airport important to you?
  • Are schools important to your decision–do you have children?
  • How important is safety to you? Do you live alone? Check the L.A. Crime Map for area crime statistics.

Due to the sheer magnitude in size of Los Angeles, it’s important to work with a real estate broker who is familiar with the area you are looking to live. A broker with local expertise will be able to provide much more insight into the pricing trends of their individual area–expertise which can save you thousands of dollars on a home purchase.

We work hard to partner our clients with a local real estate broker with the area expertise they require when in the market to buy or sell real estate. Call 1-800-287-1808 for more information.
